Casablanca is a modern business city, and for most visitors one morning is enough: the Hassan II Mosque, one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, is the highlight, followed by the Corniche and the Art Deco centre. Rabat, the elegant capital, is only an hour away and makes a better place to spend your first night. From there, Fes and Chefchaouen lie to the east and north, and the desert beyond the Middle Atlas.
