Day by Day
Day 1: Marrakech → Ourika Valley → Setti Fatma → Marrakech
Your driver collects you at 9:00 and heads south across the plain. As the road climbs, the landscape changes from olive groves to red cliffs and green terraces. Your first stop is a traditional earth-built house in a Berber village, where the family shows you the kitchen, the animal stable and the rooftop, and serves mint tea with fresh bread and olive oil.
Continuing up the valley, you pass small cooperatives selling argan oil and saffron, and pottery workshops by the road. You reach Setti Fatma, the last village in the valley, around midday. A local guide walks with you up the rocky path to the first waterfall, crossing the river on small bridges along the way. The climb takes about 40 minutes each way and you can go further if you feel energetic.
After the walk, lunch is at a family-run restaurant on the river bank, where tagines simmer on charcoal by your table. You head back to Marrakech in the afternoon and arrive around 17:00.

Good to Know
- Best time to go: spring, for blossom and full waterfalls, and summer, when the valley is much cooler than the city. After heavy rain in winter, the path to the falls can be closed.
- Shoes: wear trainers or walking sandals with grip; the rocks near the falls can be wet.
- Families: children enjoy the river crossings, but the final section to the falls needs a helping hand for small kids.
- Compare: for a longer walk and higher mountains, choose our Atlas Mountains and Imlil day trip. For the coast, see the Essaouira day trip.
