Day by Day
Day 1: Marrakech → Essaouira → Marrakech
Your driver collects you at 8:00 from your riad or hotel. The road crosses the Haouz plain and the rolling argan country of the Chiadma region; around halfway you stop at a women's cooperative to see how argan oil is made and taste amlou, the local almond, honey and argan spread.
You reach Essaouira around 11:00. Your driver points out the main sights, then the rest of the day is yours: walk the ramparts of the Skala, watch the boats come in at the harbour, browse the thuya-wood workshops and spice stalls of the medina, or simply sit on the long sandy beach with a mint tea. For lunch, pick your fish at the grill stalls by the port and have it cooked on the spot, or ask us for a table at one of the town's seafood restaurants.
Around 16:30 you meet your driver and head back, arriving in Marrakech at about 19:30.

Good to Know
- Best time to go: all year. Essaouira is breezy and cooler than Marrakech, so bring a light jacket even in summer.
- Make it longer: many travellers add a night in Essaouira and return the next day; see our 3-day Essaouira coast escape.
- Families: child seats are available on request.
- Combine it: this day trip fits well into any of our private Morocco tours that start or end in Marrakech.
