Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Your Moroccan journey begins as you land at Marrakech Menara Airport. A private transfer will take you to your riad, a traditional Moroccan guesthouse tucked within the Medina, Marrakech's old city. Riads offer an authentic atmosphere with inner courtyards, intricate tilework, and warm hospitality.
After settling in, enjoy free time to relax or start discovering the city. For your first evening, consider a casual stroll to Jemaa el-Fnaa, the city's iconic square. As night falls, the square comes alive with street performers, food vendors, and the hum of local life — a vibrant introduction to Moroccan culture.
Day 2: Exploring Marrakech
Today is devoted to uncovering the rich heritage of Marrakech with a guided city tour:
Koutoubia Mosque (exterior only), with its towering minaret, is a key city landmark.
Bahia Palace, a 19th-century masterpiece, showcases exquisite Andalusian and Moorish architecture.
Saadian Tombs, rediscovered in 1917, house the remains of royals from the Saadian dynasty.
Ben Youssef Madrasa, once an Islamic school, displays fine craftsmanship in cedar wood and zellij tilework.
Later, plunge into the colorful souks — labyrinthine markets filled with spices, handicrafts, leather goods, and textiles. Enjoy the afternoon at your pace — perhaps unwind in a traditional hammam (spa).
As the sun sets, savor dinner on a rooftop terrace, watching Marrakech sparkle under the evening sky.
Day 3: Marrakech → Atlas Mountains → Skoura → Dades Valley
The adventure continues east as you depart Marrakech and ascend the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). Along the route, take in stunning panoramic views and Berber villages clinging to the hillsides.
A key stop is Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified kasbah and UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch in Ouarzazate, dubbed the "Hollywood of Morocco," you’ll visit Skoura Oasis, known for its palm groves and the well-preserved Amridil Kasbah.
The journey continues through scenic desert landscapes to reach Dades Valley, home to dramatic rock formations and winding gorges. Spend the night at a local hotel overlooking the valley.
Day 4: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
Start your day exploring the Todra Gorges, a deep canyon with towering red rock walls. This is a favorite spot for hikers and climbers, offering a peaceful walk along the riverbed.
In the afternoon, travel southeast to Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes — some of the highest in Morocco. Here, trade your vehicle for camels and trek across golden sands just in time for a desert sunset.
Arrive at your luxury desert camp, where tents blend traditional Berber design with modern comfort. The evening includes Berber music, a campfire, and stargazing in the tranquil desert sky.
Day 5: Full Day in Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
Wake up early if you wish to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, set out to explore desert life:
Visit a nomadic family and learn about their lifestyle and traditions.
Drive through the black desert in a 4x4 to see fossil sites and remote villages.
Stop in Khamlia village, where descendants of sub-Saharan slaves perform soulful Gnawa music.
Try sandboarding or simply relax and enjoy the serene desert.
Spend a second night under the stars, either in your desert camp or in a comfortable hotel nearby.
Day 6: Merzouga → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate
After breakfast, ride camels back to Merzouga, greeting the sunrise one last time before heading westward. The journey takes you through the lush Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river oasis, dotted with palm trees and kasbahs.
Stop in the small towns of Agdz or N’kob for lunch and discover local life far from the cities. Arrive in Ouarzazate, where, if time permits, you can visit the Atlas Film Studios — the site of many famous movie shoots.
Overnight stay in Ouarzazate, where the desert meets the mountains.
Day 7: Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
If you didn’t visit Ait Ben Haddou on Day 3, this morning is your chance to explore it in depth. Then cross the High Atlas Mountains again, descending toward the red city of Marrakech.
In the afternoon, enjoy free time for last-minute shopping, sipping mint tea in a garden café, or indulging in a final spa treatment. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner in a stylish restaurant or riad, reflecting on a journey through Morocco’s soul-stirring landscapes.
Day 8: Departure from Marrakech
Depending on your flight time, enjoy a final Moroccan breakfast before your transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport. Depart with unforgettable memories of camel rides, spice-scented souks, majestic mountains, and the endless dunes of the Sahara.

Traveling Time
Day 3 (Marrakech → Dades Valley): ~6-7 hours of driving with stops. The Tizi n’Tichka Pass is winding but scenic—take motion sickness pills if needed.
Day 4 (Dades → Merzouga): ~5 hours, including stops at Todra Gorge. Roads are well-paved but remote after Erfoud.
Day 6 (Merzouga → Ouarzazate): ~5-6 hours through Draa Valley. Expect long stretches with few services—pack snacks.
Day 7 (Ouarzazate → Marrakech): ~4 hours. The return trip over the Atlas Mountains is easier since it’s mostly downhill.
Tip: Start early each day to maximize daylight for sightseeing.
What to Expect
Marrakech: Crowded medina, persistent vendors, and intense heat in summer. Dress modestly, haggle in souks (start at 1/3 of the asking price), and watch for motorbikes in narrow alleys.
Atlas Mountains & Ait Ben Haddou: Cooler temperatures. The kasbah involves climbing uneven stairs—wear sturdy shoes.
Sahara Desert (Merzouga): Extreme temperature swings (hot days, cold nights). Pack layers, a scarf for sand, and closed-toe shoes for camel riding. Camels can be bumpy—stretch afterward!
Todra Gorge & Dades Valley: Rocky terrain; good hiking shoes are a must. Toilets may be basic outside hotels.
Ouarzazate: Feels like a quiet desert town. Atlas Studios is interesting for film buffs but skip if short on time.
Practical Tips
Dress Code: Cover shoulders/knees (especially for women) outside tourist areas. Loose, breathable fabrics work best.
Money: ATMs are scarce in the desert—withdraw cash in Marrakech/Ouarzazate. Small bills (10-50 dirhams) are useful for tips.
Food & Water: Stick to bottled water. Tagine and couscous are staples. Vegetarian options are widely available.
Desert Camp: Luxury camps have proper beds and toilets, but electricity may be limited. Bring a power bank.
Packing Essentials
✔️ Clothing: Lightweight long sleeves, wide-brim hat, warm jacket (for desert nights), scarf (for sun/sand).
✔️ Footwear: Sturdy sandals for cities, closed-toe shoes for hiking/camel rides.
✔️ Gear: Sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, flashlight/headlamp (for desert camp), reusable water bottle.
✔️ Extras: Hand sanitizer, toilet paper (for remote stops), motion sickness pills (if needed).
